I don’t like Trump. I didn’t vote for him. I don’t support most of his ideas, but it’s astounding how Vox can spend so much energy on how the right is authoritative but completely ignore the insanity the left is pushing. The left wants to dictate every aspect of everyone’s lives, right down to the thoughts inside our heads. Words are being made illegal thanks to the left. Words. It doesn’t matter the intention behind the words since the left will tell you what your intentions are, because you don’t actually know. My God the level of hipocrasy is just astounding.
Not a very good introduction to authoritarianism. Read Dr. Robert Altemeyer’s work. He’s devoted his 40 year career to understanding the psychology of right wing authoritarianism. Not to oversimplify but the Trump supporter is a scared individual with a raging superiority complex that makes rational discussion / debate a near impossibility. Any authoritarian leader promising safety or sadistic pain to the Other will be followed irrespective of that leader’s contradictions, lies, or hypocrisies.
No way America survives another Trump or anyone remotely like him. That’s why I’m not running. I have a few things in common with Donald Trump and it makes it hard for me to sleep at night sometimes.
